Through active campaigning employees at the University
of Stellenbosch are realizing that they have collective
rights and have an obligation to exercise these rights through
participation in Union activities. Obstacles still impedes growth
but there has been a significant progress in all matters and
on all levels to ensure the eventual success of SAPTU at the
University of Stellenbosch.
There remain still opportunities for improvement. The contribution
from SAPTU Head Office in this regard is appreciated and will
assist in achieving the expected outcome at Stellenbosch University.
SAPTU has lately achieved some major successes
at the US in sobering grievances and disputes. SAPTU and SOLIDARITY
were approached by NEHAWU to participate in a meeting held on
02 July 2007 to form a joint bargaining forum in order to prepare
for wage negotiations during August 2007.
